Frequent Asked Questions about Live Auctions

What is the difference between a Live and Silent auction?

A live auction requires an auctioneer and is done in person in a room where the bidders put their hand or paddle up when they agree to the bid amount. A silent auction is run on paper or online where bidders enter their bid amount in and do so each time they are outbid.

Can GalaBid host an online Live Auction?

You can list your items in your campaign, accept pre-bidding before the live auction, and process winning bids for live items through the platform. However, we do not have a feature that allows for bidders to bid online and in person at a live event.

Can I accept pre-bids on my Live Auction items?

Yes, we have an easy to use pre-bidding feature which allows participants to bid on your live item and then can be switched off before the item is auctioned live in person. The platform captures all data of the prebid amounts and participants for later use.

Can I list my Live Auction items to be viewed only?

Yes, the standard live auction format does not allow any bidding on your item.

Can winners pay the organiser directly for Live Auction items?

Yes, you can either process the live winners via Stripe using the platform, or take payments completely separately via cash, bank transfer etc

We offer a selection of prizes on consignment that you can use in your live auction. These are no-risk, so if they don't sell you don't pay for them, and every amount raised over the cost price goes directly to you.

Can I offer multiples in my live auction?
